Up to 3x growth at a commercial dairy-beef operation

Background
In recent years there has been an increase in the number of male dairy calves being grown for their beef. One issue holding back the dairy beef industry is the low growth rate which is often related to calf health.
Trial Design
Calf growth trial on a commercial feedlot for thirty days. 160 male dairy calves were housed in groups of 5 and split into four treatments:
Control (No Polygain)
An initial ration of 40ml
A daily ration of 10ml daily
Both an initial and daily ration
Results
The average daily gain for all Polyain groups was higher than the control group. Even an initial ration of Polygain increased calf weight by over 50%. Calves receiving both an initial and daily ration of Polygain grew at 3x the rate of the control group.
